Along the lines of Sheila Shea's newsletter (see 12/9/2000 post, below), Dr. Mercola's site revisits research indicating a diet high in sugars (starches and complex carbs) increases the likelihood of polio, and concludes that by removing these things from our diet the likelihood of infection from other diseases can be lessened (along with stress reduction, exercise, and other factors).

Something Elaine wrote about long ago, but showed up in yesterday's news: Study links intestinal bacteria overgrowth with IBS. "We are concerned about overtreatment with antibiotics and potential resistance
to antibiotics. We are currently studying other therapies for eliminating the
bacteria, but the results so far are not objective," the Cedars-Sinai doctor said. Nevertheless, a researcher at WebMD disagrees with these findings. Either way, perhaps more people will look into the SCD!

Glaxo Wellcome voluntarily removed IBS drug Lotronex from store shelves amid concerns that the drug can cause serious side effects, including a life-threatening intestinal inflammation called ischemic colitis, and constipation so severe that some patients needed parts of their intestines surgically removed. People around the world are heard to exclaim, "Golly gee, I think I'll just stick with the SCD!"

2000 - Complete redesign of SCDiet.org is made public.
Based upon survey feedback, the site's contents have been
re-formatted in a way that is makes it easier to find
information and is more visually appealing. Mik, Linda,
and Mike sit back and savor an SCD-legal beverage, enjoying
the glowing pixels of their labor. But not for long; there's
always more to add. Stay tuned!

2000 - SCDiet.org accepts its first support from Community
Advertisers.
March, 2000 - SCDiet.org moves to Inform.dk's
UNIX servers. Net results: better performance, possiblity
of more cgi scripting, increased stability.

1999 - The "Long Island" SCD listserve's ISP
moved and upgraded their software. Digest mode has been
improved. We have made some screen snapshots to help you
