A Harvard Medical School article explores the changes needed to improve the USDA's "food pyramid" for proper health; certain aspects of the article carry additional weight for those wishing to achieve intestinal health through diet:

fat you eat when it comes to preventing diabetes, heart disease, and
other chronic illnesses. Carbohydrates contribute about half of all
calories in the average American diet. Most come from just seven

and doughnuts; sugars, syrups, and jams; white potatoes;
ready-to-eat cereals; and milk. In other words, most of our
carbohydrate calories come from sugars or highly refined grains..."

One and a half million hits!Sometime over the weekend of March 2-3, 2002, a visitor to the homepage of SCDiet.org registered the 1.5 millionth hit!
